Getting Kerberos for Macintosh
Kerberos for Macintosh

If you are a member of the MIT community:

For Mac OS X 10.2 and 10.3, you should use the Kerberos that ships as part of Mac OS X. You should also install the Mac OS X Kerberos Extras, available on the MIT Macintosh Software page.

For older versions of Mac OS and Mac OS X, can get the older supported releases of Kerberos for Macintosh from MIT Information Systems' Kerberos for Macintosh page.

If you are outside of MIT but still in the US or Canada:

You should use the Kerberos for Macintosh that ships with Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3. CFM Support is not included in Mac OS X 10.2 or 10.3, but can be installed using the Mac OS X Kerberos Extras installer (follow link to download).

A version of Kerberos for Macintosh was included with Mac OS X 10.1, however, for Mac OS X 10.1 users in the US, we recommend you download and install the full Kerberos for Macintosh 4.0.3 package, which incorporates many bugfixes. Please visit the MIT Kerberos download page and after answering the questions, click on the "Kerberos for Macintosh Release" link.

Pre-release and developmental versions of Kerberos for Macintosh may also available from the MIT Kerberos download page.

If you are outside the US:

The basic parts of Kerberos for Macintosh are included with international versions of Mac OS X 10.1 and later, and you can download the appropriate Mac OS X Kerberos Extras installer to obtain CFM Support and the GUI Kerberos application if necessary (the Kerberos Extras contain no crypto code).

You cannot download the full Kerberos for Macintosh OS X distribution or the OS 9 distributions because of US export restrictions. However, for OS X, the built-in Kerberos with the Kerberos Extras provides functionality similar to the full distribution. Our lawyers continue to consider the export question. Sorry.
